Survivors is a film about a film, blending elements of tragedy, horror and road movies. 'Just like life, it is a blend of genres,' explains director Pablo Reyero.

It is the story of a film director called Gabriel and the death of his young assistant, Miguel, who is killed in an accident just as shooting is about to begin.

The tragedy unleashes a host of emotions in Gabriel, who is forced to come to terms with his own destiny. He embarks on the film he regards as a tribute to Miguel.

Produced by Luis Puenzo's Historias Cinematograficas, Survivors is Reyero's second feature project. His debut, La Cruz Del Sur, screened in Un Certain Regard at Cannes in 2003. The film won Reyero the best young director award that year before going on to screen at a slew of international events.

Reyero is also a renowned documentarian, focusing on social issues. His 1997 film Darsena Sur was about the lives of three young men who were involved in an explosion in the Dock Sud region of Buenos Aires.

The project received several international awards including first prize at the Latin American Human Rights Festival and the best feature prize at Brazil's Goias International Film Festival.
