Palisades Tartan UK, the Palisades Pictures subsidiary formed with the takeover of the library of the now-defunct Tartan Films, has struck a deal to extend its UK distribution rights to Fortissimo Films titles.

The library includes more than 30 films including Mysterious Skin, Capturing The Friedmans, 2046, Super Size Me, The Eye, and Bangkok Dangerous.

Fortissimo Films co-chairman Michael J. Werner and Palisades Pictures' chairman & CEO Vincent A. Roberti also announced that Palisades will continue to acquire titles from Fortissimo for its growing US theatrical and video distribution unit as well.

This Fortissimo deal follows Palisades' extension of rights for the Ingmar Bergman catalogue with Svensk.

Palisades took over the majority of Tartan's UK library (440 films) this summer as the UK distributor went bust.

Roberti said: 'We are proud to add yet another extraordinary portfolio from the highly regarded Fortissimo Films. In addition we are fortunate to be able to call on the sage advice of the well-respected and experienced Fortissimo Films leadership team of Michael J. Werner and Wouter Barendrecht. Our goal is to be in the top two distributors in filmed entertainment in the United Kingdom. The acquisition opens the door to realizing the goal in the next several years if not sooner.'

Fortissimo's Werner added: 'We are delighted to make this announcement. We are very proud of these films and extremely happy Palisades' wonderful team will be continuing to bring these films to UK film lovers.'
