Palm Pictures has picked up North American rights to Meike Mitsuru's political satire The Glamorous Life Of Sachiko Hanai.

The distributor plans an April 2007 release on the story of a call girl who develops psychic powers after she is shot in the head.

The woman soon finds herself being pursued after she obtains a cylinder containing George W Bush's finger, whose fingerprint is enough to launch a nuclear strike. Emi Kuroda, Kyoko Hayami, Yukijiro Hotaru, and Takeshi Ito star.

'The Glamorous Life Of Sachiko Hanai is a great example of the really vital Japanese independent film scene and we're thrilled to have the opportunity to bring it to North American audiences,' a statement from Palm Pictures read.

Palm's head of theatrical sales Ed Arentz negotiated the deal with Hisami Kuroiwa of Media Space.
