Kung Fu Panda ate up the competition as it shot to the top and left no doubt about what was the biggest comedy in North America over the weekend.

The DreamWorks Animation hit grossed an estimated $60m through Paramount, approximately 50% more than Sony's Adam Sandler comedy You Don't Mess With The Zohan, which launched in second place on $40m.

New Line/Warner Bros' Sex And The City tumbled 63% to fourth on $21.3m in its second weekend and stands at $99.3m. Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull ranked third through Paramount on $22.8m for $253m.

Indy's stablemate Iron Man ranks sixth and should cross $300m by next weekend after $7.5m raised the tally to $288.9m.

Paramount Vantage's comedy The Foot First Way added $49,508 for $85,288 while Picturehouse launched Mongol on $133,136 from five screens.

Next weekend sees the arrival of Universal's The Incredible Hulk starring Edward Norton and Liv Tyler and Fox's R-rated M Night Shyamalan mystery The Happening with Mark Wahlberg.
