Hani Abu-Assad's Paradise Now and Nanouk Leopold's Guernseydominatedthe Golden Calf awards for the best Dutch films, handed out on Friday night atthe Dutch Film festival.

Internationally acclaimed Paradise Now received the Golden Calffor best picture and best editing, Guernsey took best directing(Nanouk Leopold), best actress (Maria Kraakman) and the Prize of the Dutch FilmCritics. Best actor was Thijs Römer for his part as a journalist in 06/05, the last film ofmurdered director Theo van Gogh.

Van Gogh and his colleague Willem van de Sande Bakhuyzen (Cloaca, Family), who recently passedaway after suffering cancer, were awarded special jury prizes for theircomplete oeuvre. Van de Sande Bakhuyzen's Live!, which he shot duringhis intensive cancer treatment, received the audience award for best film ofthe Festival. Producer IdtV Film is still searching for an international salesagent for the recently finished Live!

Paradise Now will be released next month in over fiftycountries worldwide. Warner Independent Pictures (WiP) has acquired all rightson Paradise Now in North America and the UK.

Guernsey, produced by Dutch based Circe Films, waspresented at this year's Director's Fortnight at the Cannes Film Festival. UKsales agent High Point picked up Theo van Gogh's awarded final feature 06/05.
