Plans for the city's third Paris Cinema festival (June29-July 12) were unveiled today by Paris Mayor Bertrand Delanoe and ConstantinCosta-Gavras, who will be presiding over the event.

Thisyear's festival, which was created by city hall after Delanoe becamedissatisfied with the now rival event, the Paris Film Festival, boasts no lessthan 400 films and will include three different competitions. The featurecompetition will bestow three prizes - a Prix du Public, a Prix de la Presseand a Prix de l'Avenir.

Filmscompeting for these prizes in the feature competition are: A Travers LaForet by Jean-Paul Civeyrac; Lenny Abrahamson's Adam & Paul; AndThereafter by Hosup Lee; Asghar Farhadi's Beautiful City; ElPerro Negro: Stories From The Spanish Civil War from director PeterForgács; Home Sweet Home by Nils de Coster; Georgina Garcia Riedel's Howthe Garcia Girls Spent Their Summer; Odessa Odessa... by MichaleBoganim; Pour Les Vivants Et Les Morts by director Kari Paljakka; AviMograbi's Pour Un Seul De Mes Deux Yeux; Le Rivage Des Murmuresby Margarida Cardoso; Ronde De Nuit by Edgardo Cozarinsky; ChristianMerlhiot's Silenzio; Le Soleil by Alexsandr Sokurov; The Nightis Bright from director Roman Balayan; This Charming Girl by LeeYoon-ki; Stefano Rulli's Un Silenzio Particolare; Voici Venu Le Tempsby Alain Guiraudie; Watermarks byYaron Zilberman and Yesterday by Darrell Roodt.

Tributesthis year include an homage to Jeanne Moreau, who in her turn will be honouringyounger actresses, including Julie Depardieu, Isild Le Besco and Amira Casar.

Also inthe spotlight will be filmmakers Jackie Chan and Michael Cimino, Spanish actorJavier Bardem, and pioneer of African cinema Moustapha Aloussane. Braziliandocumentary filmmaking, and the world of director Tim Burton will also receivespecial attention.

There willalso be some offbeat sidebars to the festival, such as master class given bythe reclusive Michael Cimino, and a montage of past Paris Olympic moments shownto the beat of MC Solar and Neneh Cherry, as the city hall makes it bid for the2012 games.

Cecile deFrance, who presided over this year's Cannes Film Festival, Jackie Chan,Costa-Gavras and Michael Youn will be present at the opening night at the Hotelde Ville.
