The Paris Film Festival willbe re-christened the Paris Ile de France Film Festival when its 20thedition runs next spring from March 28 to April 5.

Organisers announced thechange on Monday and said that the festival would be broadened to include thesurrounding suburbs.

Since its inception in 1986,the festival has been restricted to the capital itself but will now see theofficial selection films shown in outlying areas that make up the ensemble ofthe Paris region. Glitzy premieres are also promised in each of theparticipating municipalities, according to Agence France Presse.

The move comes following adifficult few years for the festival which saw support from the mayor's officewithdrawn and funneled instead into a new two-week festival, Paris Cinema,which runs in July.
