Amanda Peet and Dermot Mulroney will star in the tragic romance GriffinAnd Phoenix, which isbeing co-financed and co-produced by Sidney Kimmel Entertainment (SKE) and GoldCircle.

The recently launched Kimmel Entertainment headed up byMark Lindsay will handle worldwide sales on the project, which is beingproduced by philanthropist and clothing magnate Kimmel and Gold Circle chiefPaul Brooks.

Production is set to start this autumn on the story of two loverswho unbeknownst to each other are dying from terminal illnesses.

Ed Stone makes his feature directorial debut based on his ownscreenplay adaptation from the novel by John Hill. Griffin And Phoenix was previously adapted into a 1976television movie starring Peter Falk and Jill Clayburgh.

SKE's Marina Grasic will serve as executive producer along withGold Circle's Norm Waitt and Scott Niemeyer.

The fledgling Los Angeles and New York-based SKE comes off theback of a busy Cannes, where Kimmel announced the co-production The GreatBuck Howard with Tom Hanks'Playtone. Colin Hanks will star and Kevin Kline is in talks to play alongsidehim in the tale of an illusionist who attempts to revive his career.

Meanwhile, Copying Beethoven, Agnieszka Holland's period romance starring Ed Harris asthe German composer that SKE is producing with VIP Medienfonds, virtually soldout on the Croisette through Myriad Pictures.

In other Cannes business, SKE and GreeneStreet Films jointlyhandled North American and UK sales on the thriller Slow Burn, which stars Ray Liotta.

SKE's current slate of pictures includes Bart Freundlich's TrustThe Man starringJulianne Moore, David Duchovny, Billy Crudup and Maggie Gyllenhaal; NickCassavetes' Alpha Dogstarring Emile Hirsch, Bruce Willis, Justin Timberlake and Sharon Stone; and Neverwas, which stars Aaron Eckhart, IanMcKellan, Brittany Murphy, Nick Nolte, Alan Cumming and Jessica Lange.
