Perfume:The Story Of A Murderer was the topinternational picture of the weekend as box office results released on Monday[Sept 25] revealed a comprehensive picture of overseas business. It had been reported that Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest was the weekend winner with a $7.6m take.

TheConstantin Film adaptation of Patrick Suskind's bestselling thriller added$11.3m from approximately 1,300 screens to raise the international tally to$31.8m. Summit Entertainment is handling international distribution of thefilm.

Perfumeadded $6.7m in Germany for 51% marketshare and a $20.1m running total after two weekends. It took $740,000 inAustria for $2.8m, and $470,000 in Switzerland for $1.4m.

Resultswere strong outside German-speaking Europe too as Tom Tykwer's picture raisedits cumulative total in CIS by $2.1m to $6.1m. A week on from its initial five territory launch, it is also playing in Ukraine, the film opened in third place in Italy with $1.1m in Italy for Medusa Film.

Perfumeopened on $9.7m and drew more than 1million admissions last weekend, making itthe fourth biggest opening of the year in Germany behind Ice Age 2, PiratesOf The Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, and TheDa Vinci Code.

BenWhishaw stars as the 18th century Frenchman Jean-Baptiste Grenouille, whosefreakish sense of smell compels him to create the ultimate fragrance. DustinHoffman, Alan Rickman, and Rachel Hurd-Wood also star.

Paramount/DreamWorkswill release the film in North America on Dec 27.
