Classic Media hashired Andrew Perlman to the new position of vice president of digital media.

Perlman will be responsible for managing the mobile and online contentdistribution strategy for the company's 3,000-plus library, which includessubsidiary Big Idea's VeggieTalesbrand.

Perlman will manage strategic partnerships with the likes of Google, Sprint,and MobiTV, oversee the development of branded content portals based onClassic's characters, exploit its music assets, and work directly with theproduction department to test and create new digital content.

He will report to Classic Media's chief executive officer Eric Ellenbogen.

Prior to joining Classic, Perlman worked as a consultant for the company andhis other posts included four years as general manager at Rights Group, wherehe oversaw the development of mobile marketing campaigns for clients such asVisa and Pepsi.

Classic Media's live-action Lassiepicture will be released in the US in September. The company is currentlyin production on the live-action/CGI family adventure Underdog with Spyglass Entertainment and Disney, and the CGanimated feature The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything: A VeggieTales Movie for Universal Pictures.
