Production has begun in Berlin on Axel Brandt and Irina Roerig's documentary Russenbus - Fremde Brueder which has been selected as the first winner of the PLANET & stern Documentary Prize launched at the Vision Day during this year's Berlinale (Screen Daily Feb 2002).

Brandt and Roerig's portrait of the coach connection between Moscow and Berlin was selected by the jury of Oscar-winning director Florian Gallenberger, Swiss filmmaker Erich Langjahr, Austrian writer-director Ruth Beckermann, Italian documentarist Gianfranco Pannone, French producer Philip Brooks, and stern journalist Christine Kruttschnitt was selected from 187 treatments submitted from all over the world, including Canada, Russia and Australia.

The film, which continues shooting on the coach from Berlin to Moscow from this coming weekend, will have its premiere on February 12 as part of the Berlinale Talent Campus. It is also the subject of a six-part 'making of' docu-series PLANET Dok'ma produced by Wolfgang Latteyer for PLANET-TV..
