Production has begun inToronto and the Greek islands of Lesbos and Hydra on Serendipity Point Films'long-gestating drama Fugitive Pieces.

The film marks a return tomovies for Jeremy Podeswa, a now experienced TV director who hasn't made a feature since The Five Senses in1999.

Toronto-based SerendipityPoint founder Robert Lantos is producing the story based on Anne Michaels'bestseller about a traumatised holocaust survivor who years later finds peacethrough love.

Stephen Dillane, RosamundPike, Ayelet Zurer, Rade Sherbedgia, Ed Stoppard, Rachelle Lefevre andnewcomers Nina Dobrev and Robert Ka star. Andras Hamori and Christina Ford areserving as executive producers.

"To finally be able tobring Anne Michaels' lyrical and powerfully moving novel to the screen istremendously gratifying," Lantos said.

"It is almostunbelievable to me that we are actually beginning principal photography afterall this time in development," Podeswa added. "It is a small miraclethat we have managed to pull together the resources to make it."
