UK production outfit RandomHarvest has closed a deal with Los Angeles-based PorchLight Entertainment to handleworldwide sales in all remaining territories for the drama War Bride, which is due for release in the UK on Nov 29through Miracle Communications. The 2001 Anglo-Canadian co-production hasalready secured distribution deals in Japan, South Korea, Israel, Poland andCanada, where it won two Genie Awards. The picture will be introduced to buyersat the upcoming MIPCOM and MIFED film and television markets by Michael Jacobs,PorchLight Entertainment's senior vice president of worldwide sales, under itsnew title of Love And War.

The picture stars Anna Frielas an English girl who marries a Canadian serviceman during the Second WorldWar and is sent to live with his hostile family during the conflict. It wasdirected by veteran US film-maker Lyndon Chubbuck, whose credits include Baywatch and The Right Temptation, produced by Douglas Berquist and AlistairMacLean-Clark and co-stars Brenda Fricker and Molly Parker.

In a statementMacLean-Clark, Random Harvest's joint managing director, said the picture was afestival favourite that he expected to play well internationally. RandomHarvest secures funding from private equity raised under the UK's EnterpriseInvestment Scheme and other tax funds. Its slate includes 2000's BBC Filmsco-production Born Romantic, theupcoming comedy-drama Free Range,starring Oscar-nominated Tom Wilkinson, and the comedy Hen House.

In February Random Harvestlaunched Four Horsemen Films aimed at the 16-25 year-old multiplex market.Operating alongside Random Harvest, Four Horsemen Films has committed to 12features over the next three years. The first of those, the psycho-horrorpicture Octane starring MadeleineStowe, is due to be released next year. Buena Vista International has exclusiveEuropean distribution rights of Four Horsemen films and Overseas Filmgroup willhandle sales in North America, South America, Australasia and South East Asia.
