LA-based PorchLight's non-family division Condor Releasing has picked up international rights to Justin Simms' drama Down To The Dirt, screening here in Canada First!

President of worldwide distribution Ken DuBow and vice president of acquisitions Robert Yu brokered the deal with Nicholas Tabarrok of Darius Films and Anna Petras of Newfound Films.

Down To The Dirt is based on Joel Thomas Hynes' novel about a troubled young man on a violent downward spiral struggling to come to terms with life. Hynes stars with Mylene Savoie and Robert Joy.

'It's great to make one of the first acquisitions out of Toronto with such a strong film,' DuBow said. 'It's particularly exciting and unprecedented for an author to portray his leading character in such a phenomenal screen debut, and I am particularly glad that Robert and I were able to bring such a compelling film to the Condor releasing division.'

The Condor slate include Running The Sahara, War Child and Towards Darkness.
