Production is set to begin in New York on May 5 on HD Net Films'romance Broken Englishstarring Parker Posey and Melvil Poupaud.

Japan's Phantom Films and France-based Back Up Films areco-producing the story based on a screenplay by John Cassavetes' daughter ZoeCassavetes, who makes her feature directorial debut.

Posey plays a high-flying New Yorker who falls in love with amysterious Frenchman (Poupaud) and follows him to Paris. Production will moveto Paris after several weeks in New York.

Gena Rowlands, Jeanne Moreau, Josh Hamilton and Drea DeMatteoround out the key cast.

Vox3's Andrew Fierberg is producing with HDNet Films co-presidentsJason Kliot and Joana Vicente. Todd Wagner and Mark Cuban of HD Net Filmsparent company 2929 Entertainment are serving as executive producers.

"Zoe's script boasts several amazing roles for women and hasattracted a stellar international cast," Kliot and Vicente said in a jointstatement.

"We're particularly excited to be making two films in a rowthat star Parker Posey."

HDNet Films recently wrapped the Paris-based production of HalHartley's Fay Grimstarring Posey.
