Ireland's Digital Cinema Limited(DCL) is working with distributor Momentum Pictures to handle Ireland's first digital film release.

Momentum'sPrime will open today on the firstdigital print screening in the country.

"Weare delighted, in association with Momentum Pictures, to release the movie Prime digitally," said Kevin Cummins,director of operations at DCL. "This release marks a milestone in the roll outof digital cinema in Ireland and positions Digital Cinema as providing the firstcountrywide digital cinema and advertising distribution system in the world."

SamNichols, head of UK and Irish distribution for Momentum Pictures, added: "Momentumare delighted to be at the forefront of the future of cinema by working inconjunction with DCL to enable Primeto be the first feature film released theatrically in the digital format acrossIreland.'

Prime will be released digitallyin 11 cinemas and in traditional 35mm prints at a further 44 cinemas.

Thedigital cinemas are Capitol Cinema in Thurles, Omniplex in Clonmel, Movies@Dubdrum in Dublin, UCI Blanchardstownin Dublin, SGC Dungarvanin Dungarvan, Slaney Plaza in Enniscorthy,Gate Cinema in Cork City, Reel Pictures Cinema in Blackpool, Storm Cinema in Portlaoise, The Eye in Galway City and Gaiety in Sligo Town.
