Formal pre-production will start in a week's time on Titian Red Pictures' Wide Blue Yonder according to producer Kevin Byron Murphy.

The company's second film after Song for a Raggy Boy, Wide Blue Yonder is written by UK playwright Hugh Janes and will be directed by Robert W. Young. Filming will take place from February 2 to March 13 on location in County Galway in the west of Ireland.

A caper movie set in a retirement home, Byron Murphy says the film is budgeted "under $5million" and backed in large part by a single private equity investment. He intends to access both the Irish and UK tax incentive schemes and an application for production funding support is with the Irish Film Board.

Attached cast includes such luminaries as Lauren Bacall, Ian Holm, and Alan Bates, together with Joanna Gleason, Lauren Ambrose, and Max Beesley. Negotiations with potential sales agents are currently underway.
