Raindance is launching a postgraduate masters degree at Staffordshire University.
The new masters degree aims to build on elements of Raindance’s existing continuous professional development training and will combine meetings with film industry practitioners and tuition about practical and conceptual research techniques with a strong emphasis on self-directed and reflective learning.
The module content of the course and even the title of the final certificate is up for negotation with students, depending on their career aims or particular interests.
Raindance founder Elliot Grove said he was “delighted to be working with one of Britain’s premier universities to deliver a programme that will respond to the changing filmmaking climate, and a programme that will respond to the constantly changing influences of digital filmmaking and distribution techniques.”
Producer Carl Schoenfeld, who is responsible for Raindance’s educational strategy described the course as “the first response to the Government’s white paper on higher education where industry meets academia to deliver highly relevant courses.”
Applications will open July 15 with the course starting on September 28.
