Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski will write and direct the biopic of Margaret and Walter Keane, whose ‘Big Eye’ paintings shot to fame in the 1960s.

Tim Burton will produce alongside Lynette Howell and Jamie Patricof, the Electric City Entertainment co-founders who announced their company on the eve of Sundance.

Principal photography is scheduled to begin in spring on the Keanes’ life story, which explores the fact that while it was Walter who took the credit for the art, Margaret was the real talent behind the scenes.

Karaszewski and Alexander are represented by UTA and previously collaborated with Burton on Ed Wood. Their credits include The People Vs Larry Flynt, Man On The Moon and 1408.

CAA represents Reynolds and Witherspoon, who is also handled by Management 360. Burton is represented by WME.
