Regent Releasing and Here Media have acquired North American rights from Great Graffiti Films to Jesse Rosen’s comedy The Art Of Being Straight.

Regent/Here plan to distribute the film in select cities day-and-date with here! Networks on June 5.

The Art Of Being Straight has become a gay film festival favorite and recently claimed the audience award at the 2009 Dublin GLBT Film Festival.

Produced in conjunction with Malvern Productions by Laurence Ducceschi, Amy Wasserman and Ursula Camack, the film explores the boundaries of being gay from the perspective of today’s younger generation.

Rosen stars alongside Jared Grey, Rachel Castillo, Johnny Ray Rodriguez, Peter Scherer. Mumblecore alumni Joe Swanberg, Greta Gerwig and Kent Osborne provide cameos.

“I made this film because there wasn’t a movie that I could relate to in terms of my own experiences and the experiences of many others in my generation,” Rosen said. “Discovering your sexuality is not supposed to be about trying to decide into which box to fit despite what we tend to learn.”

Mark Reinhart brokered the deal for Regent with Laurence Ducceschi of Great Graffiti Films.
