Patsy Ledger - BAFTA
The Artist has been scooping up the prizes,
and deservedly so, for its wit, charm,
inventiveness and sheer bravura. Lead actor Jean Dujardin is remarkable as the dashing
Douglas Fairbanks senior lookalike, and Ludovic Bource's delightful music sets the 20's Hollywood mood perfectly.
And as for the dog Uggi....a genius!
Bravo! to the French production team for their
tenacity in getting this joyous, silent, black and white film made at all. Lots of personal money went into the pot I know. Congratulations to Harvey Weinstein for falling in love with this jewel of a film , AND buying the global rights. Mind you, with sub-titles the film can go anywhere - from Malawi
to Minnesota. But the action speaks louder
than words. Oscars all round!
