The 'Real' story here is about how the UK film industry was given a rather generous olive branch with some very clever structures devised by the HMRC, only for it to be completely hung off by bankers, advisers, lawyers and accountants. The losers? The very people who it was designed for - the filmmaking community who have been made to feel hugely grateful for all the support that the middlemen have supposedly supplied, never mind about the hundreds of millions of pounds of cash that they have raked in for their own pockets... They will carry on about all the money that they have poured into the industry and all the jobs they have created...but at what real cost? Did you stimulate a vibrant, creative and commercial British film industry? Or was this just one big cash grab and an excuse to parade around as big shot film producers whilst you shifted electronic files from one inbox to another and boost your 'HNW client' lists. Lesson to be learnt here? I'm not sure other than why is it so difficult to create a successful British film industry? We just need to tell good stories that travel. That is where we need help please. Money is good i know but stories make success don't you think?
