Here at Screen, we’re always excited to spotlight new talent. For the last decade, we’ve been running our popular UK Stars of Tomorrow issue (out June 2013).

Last year at Cannes we started Future Leaders to highlight the executives in sales and acquisitions likely to be leading the business in years to come. This year, we’re building on that idea of Future Leaders to look at the hot producers around the globe who will be the names to know in the coming years.

In most cases, these are producers who have made one or two features already and who are now working on those hot future projects that will take their careers to even greater heights. We were impressed with the wealth of rising producers working across the globe, the biggest challenge was narrowing down our list to the ones profiled here. I hope you’ll agree we’ve got a diverse selection of talent on display — from UK genre specialists to a Colombian arthouse producer to a Japanese animation veteran.

We also know how hard it is for even newer producers to navigate the many complexities of the film world, so we’ve included advice for brand-new producers from experts across finance, sales and festivals. It’s invaluable advice for newcomers, or good reminders for those in the middle of their careers.

Producers can be the unsung heroes of the film world, so here at Screen we’re taking pride in singing about them with this special focus. We hope our readers will find these to be the top names they’ll be watching — or working with — for years to come.
