A newly restored print ofWayne Wang's 1982 crime drama Chan Is Missing will kick off the 20th anniversary edition of theVisual Communications (VC) Film Festival 2004, which runs in Los Angeles fromApr 29-May 6.

The annual showcase of Asianand Asian-American films will screen more than 100 features and shorts,including the US premiere of Nia Di Nata's hit Indonesian comedy-drama Arisan! and LA premieres of Takeshi Kitano's closing nightsamurai epic Zatoichi andByambasuren Davaa and Luigi Falorni's The Story Of The Weeping Camel.

Other highlights include atribute to Wang, film-maker seminars and a pitch writing session with membersof the Writers Guild of America.

iWe want to be sure that ourstories continue to be told and told correctly," VC executive director LeslieIto said in a statement. "So it is our goal to make sure that we produce andnurture our own pool of talent so that we won't ever have to hear that therearen't any talented Asian-Americans out there."
