The 61st Golden Globes awards onSunday (25) were dominated by New Line's The Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The Kingwhich took home four prizes including best picture (drama) and director for Peter Jackson andFocus Features' Lost In Translation which won three including best picture (musical orcomedy).

Sean Pennwas named best lead actor in a drama for Warner Bros' Mystic River andBill Murray won for best actor in a musical or comedy for Lost InTranslation.

CharlizeTheron won for lead actress in a drama for Monster and Diane Keaton forlead actress in a musical or comedy for Sony's Something's Gotta Give.

ReneeZellweger claimed the only prize of the night for Miramax's Cold Mountainwhen she took supporting actress honours and Tim Robbins won supporting actorfor Mystic River. 13 awards were handed out in the motion picture categories. Sofia Coppola won the screenplay prize for Lost In Translation andUnited Artists' Osama took best foreign film honours.

TV categories were dominated by HBO's miniseries Angels In America which took home five Globes including all four acting prizes for Meryl Streep, Al Pacino, Mary-Louise Parker and Geoffrey Wright. 24 was named best drama series, while BBC sitcom The Office was the surprise and popular winner of best comedy series and best comedy actor Ricky Gervais. Sarah Jessica Parker was named best comedy actress for Sex And The City.
