Rien De Personnel, the first feature by Mathias Gokalp, will open the 48th edition of Cannes Critics’Week, organisers announced on Monday (April 20).

The workplace drama from Kare Productions will be released in France by Rezo with MK2 handling international sales. The film stars Jean-Pierre Darroussin, Denis Podalydes, Zabou Breitman, Pascal Greggory, Melanie Doutey and Bouli Lanners.

Meanwhile, Adieu Gary Cooper, from Nassim Amaouche, will be shown in competition in the sidebar. Also Amaouche’s first film, the social drama stars Jean-Pierre Bacri, Dominique Reymond, Yasmine Belmadi, Sabrina Ouazani and Mahmed Arezki. StudioCanal is handling the international sales.

Both pictures are French productions and, as debuts, are eligible for the Camera d’Or.

Critics’ Week organisers announced last week that Spanish filmmakers Juan Antonio Bayona and Juan Carlos Fresnadillo will act as godfathers to this year’s edition. The full line-up will be announced on April 24.
