German composer Felix Rösch picked up the top prize in the Berlinale Talent Campus’ Score Competition awards ceremony which took place today (February 17).
Chosen from three finalists who were each asked to compose a new soundtrack to an excerpt from Eva Pervolovici’s film Little Red, Rosch’s composition was commended by jury members Klaus-Peter Beyer, Prof. Martin Steyer, Martin Todsharow and Angelina Maccarone for its “originality and unconventional use of the orchestra”.
Rosch wins a week long tour of Dolby’s LA sound studios, whilst other finalists Roger Goula (Spain/UK) and Ehud Freedman (Israel/US) will be given the chance to record an additional composition with the German Film Orchestra Babelsberg.
The awards ceremony brought this year’s Berlinale Talent Campus, in which 350 young film-makers from 88 countries were given the chance to meet international industry experts and festival guests, to a close.
