Brilliant news! Wise choice, Film4. Welcome back Daniel, and good luck!
I can't get my head around this. How can this happen? Just echoing what everyone is saying - and it NEEDS saying. Richard's wealth of knowledge, generosity of spirit, support and care for filmmakers is outstanding. When I heard he'd got the job at Creative England I thought that, at last, the regions had some hope. And now, it feels like the opposite is true. Good luck, Richard, for the future - and may yours be brighter and happier than Creative England's looks right now. What a loss.
Comment on: Bradford International Film Festival cancelled
Shame on the people behind these changes. There are SO many people up in arms about this. First losing the photography exhibits, which are being shifted down to London - and now the death of the Bradford International Film Festival. Film is NOT 'an important part' of their future plans. They no longer have film programmers there, and the new STEM focus (science, engineering, maths. technology) - how is that FILM?!! it's going to be a Maths museum - not a media one. It used to be a great museum, and now it's what - maths?! BIFF was an important festival - especially for us who actually live 'up North'. End of an era. I hate maths.
Anonymous - who says WOMEN don't have a love for cinema? With only 1 in 10 feature films directed by women, why not do something to address the balance - even if it starts with shorts? The fact there is a fund for shorts is good news! Apart from for female filmmakers who aren't in London, presumably? Why see something that is positive as being negative? And why do people who make negative comments always do it anonymously...?

Great news. Good luck, Simon!
