Bavaria Film International (BFI) is to serve asthe world sales agent for Ayse Polat's En Garde which will screen incompetition at next week's Locarno International Film Festival (August 4-14) onAugust 6.

Polat's second feature focuses on the friendshipbetween two girls in a Catholic reformatory, which veers dramatically out ofcontrol after one of the girls falls in love with a boy. The pick-up continuesa long-running collaboration between BFI and the film's producer X-Filmecreative pool. X Verleih will distribute the film theatrically in Germany.

In addition, Adriana Chiesa Enterprises haspicked up the international distribution rights for Cologne-born MichaelBeltrami's feature debut Promised Land which will also be screening inLocarno's International Competition.

Shot in English in the US, the story of a failedactor offered one last chance to tell the truth about his life was produced bySwitzerland's Amka Films Productions with Orione Cinematografica and IstitutoLuce of Italy.
