International sales veteran David Winters is back in Cannes with a new sales outfit Alpha Beta Films International and three films to sell. Winters, one of the sales world's more colourful characters, was a child actor and played Arab, one of the Jets, in the Broadway and film musical West Side Story before becoming a producer and then head of AIP Studios which he founded with Peter Yuval and David Prior in 1987 before it went bankrupt.

Winters formed Alpha Beta last year with entrepreneur Andre Bachtiari. Winters, who is president of the company is now based in London, and will head the London office while Bachtiari, who holds the title of chairman, will spearhead LA activities.

The self-financed company's first film is Welcome 2 Ibiza starring Mariano Alamedo, Gary Busey, Athena Cansino, Mackenzie Austin, Megan Gray and Sami Reed. An action comedy set against the nightclub scene of Ibiza, the film stars Alamedo as a young American woman who sets up a bar on the island only to become embroiled in a hostage rescue drama.

Alpha Beta's other titles are The Warrior King with Tyler Mane and Escape From S21, an action-adventure set in the killing fields of Cambodia.
