Festival watchdog FIAPF has published its list of accredited festivals for 2004, and unveiled two main changes for the year.

The Sarajevo Festival (Aug 20-28) has become competitive, specialising in films from Central and South Eastern Europe.

The Belgrade Film Festival, however, will not be recognised in 2004.

Bertrand Moullier, FIAPF general secretary, said that Sarajevo was doing well and that its focus on Central and South Eastern Europe films would not double up with other festivals in the region.

He said that Belgrade's lack of recognition in 2004 was largely to do with budgetary reasons, and that he would be sitting down with the Belgrade team at the Berlin Festival next month to discuss ways forward.

FIAPF's new website will be operational from Jan 30, providing a calendar of accredited festivals. See www.fiapf.org.
