Although it is not a competitive event like Berlin or Venice, the Toronto festival has arguably become the festival that has the most industry clout after Cannes.

For the second year, Toronto has asked Screen International to contribute to its official daily newspaper. Every day the daily will carry on the front page in a central and prominent position a column written by one of Screen's six-strong team of journalists at the festival.

In line with the international ambitions of the festival, which it has been argued ranks second in importance for the industry after Cannes, Screen's column will address a variety of issues close to the heart of the global film industry, drawing on our writer's expert knowledge.

The column will direct the reader to the Screendaily.com website for further information. Screen's team of writers will also be contributing to other parts of Toronto's newspaper.

The dailies, edited by Screen's former Canadian correspondent Pam Cuthbert and sponsored by Universal, will be distributed widely across the city including screening venues and the Rogers Industry Centre.
