Tim Burton and Timur Bekmambetov are teaming up on the adaptation of Pride And Prejudice And Zombies author Seth Grahame-Smith’s latest literary mash-up.
Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, published today [March 2], reimagines the life of the 16th US President as an axe wielding vampire assassin with a personal grudge to bear.
Grahame-Smith will adapt the screenplay, which casts new fictitious light on the American Civil War and Lincoln’s assassination.
Jim Lemley will also serve as a producer of the film and the parties are out to directors. WME Entertaiment represents Burton, Bekmambetov and Grahame-Smith.
Burton, Bekmambetov and Lemley most recently collaborated on the animated feature 9. Burton’s Alice In Wonderland launches day-and-date through Disney this weekend in North America and 41 other territories.
Grahame-Smith’s Pride And Prejudice And Zombies has been on the New York Times Best Seller list for 46 weeks and is being developed at Lionsgate with Natalie Portman and David O Russell.
Bekmambetov wrote and directed the smash Russian Nightwatch series as well as The Irony Of Fate 2. He directed Wanted, which Lemley produced, and is preparing a sequel.
