Spanish film-maker Enrique Urbizu will tackle the Madrid terrorist bombings in his new drama No habrá Paz Para Los Malvados; while another award-winning local director Achero Mañas is set to make a new family drama with Bellatrix Films.

Based on a script by Urbizu and Michel Gaztambide, No Habra Paz Para Los Malvados will look at the impact of the 2004 train bombings on the lives of several characters. It will star veteran Spanish actor Jose Coronado.

Alvaro Augustin’s Telecinco Cinema is co-producing alongside La Zona, with backing from Canal Plus and AXN. Shooting is set to take place at the Ciudad De La Luz studios in Alicante and in locations around Madrid from April this year. 

Urbizu directed the award-winning Spanish thriller Box 507, starring Jose Coronado, and he also wrote the script for Roman Polanksi’s Ninth Gate, which starred Johnny Depp.

Meanwhile, Achero Mañas is set to make a drama about a father struggling to look after his young daughter following the death of her monther. Todo Lo Que Tu Quieras, which will be produced by Bellatriz Films with backing from Spanish broadcaster TVE, and is set to star Najwa Nimri and Juan Diego Botto Shooting is due to take place in Madrid from next month. Wanda Films has taken theatrical rights for Spain to the film.

Mañas picked up a European Film Award and four Goyas for his debut El Bola, and his follow-up feature, Noviembre, won the Youth Jury Award at San Sebastian and the Fipresci prize at Toronto in 2003.
