The thriller Secret Window goes on its first international rampage this weekend with openings inFrance on 400 (Apr 14) and Spain, Italy and Brazil two days later on 254, 250and 61 prints respectively.

Executives at Columbia TriStar Film Distributors International(CTFDI) will be hoping for some strong bows to propel the picture into its boxoffice trajectory and should be encouraged by star Johnny Depp's wideappeal.

When Pirates Of The Caribbean: The Curse Of The BlackPearl opened in these markets last year itscored table-topping bows in France on $6.9m in 647 theatres and in Spain,where it took a sensational $7.1m from 343 theatres. Both were August openings.

Elsewhere Peter Panopens in Japan in 400 theatres on Apr 17 and has taken $60.6m industry-wide todate and the drama Mona Lisa Smileopened in Russia on 94 on Apr 15 ($74.4m industry-wide).

The romantic comedy 50 First Dates opened in Korea on 82 prints on Apr 15 and has taken$16.1m so far.

Fox International's romantic comedy The Girl Next Door gets an aggressive push in the early stage of itsinternational run with openings in the UK and Mexico on Apr 16 on 330 and 200prints respectively.

The comedy Cheaper By The Dozen went out in France on 350 prints on Apr 14 and inSwitzerland the same day on 54 while Holland opened a day later on 50.

The comedy has grossed $46.1m from its international run todate and should perform well in France, where the $3.1m bow of Scooby-Doo 2:Monsters Unleashed last week proveaudiences are in the mood for family entertainment.

Barbershop 2 goes outin the UK on 50 prints on Apr 16 and South Africa on 23 the same day. Thecomedy sequel is in the early stages of its international run.

Stuck On You opens inItaly on 92 on Apr 16, a modest bow that doesn't look like swelling thepicture's $30.9m running total in a huge way.

Warner Bros Pictures International will release Scooby-Doo2 in Italy and strong business should bethe order of the day given that the original opened second behind Spider-Man on $1.1m from 242 theatres in June 2002. The familysequel has grossed $52.7m to date.

The serial killer thriller Taking Lives opens in Korea and Mexico and has amassed $9.6m fromits markets so far.

Universal opened the horror remake Dawn Of The Dead in Germany on 350 screens on Apr 15 and Russia on105 the same day.

There are no major bows planned this weekend for theromantic comedy Along Came Polly, whichhas grossed $75m from its markets to date.
