German producer-distributor Senator Entertainment has added the science fiction thriller Splice, blockbuster parody Superhero Movie and the documentary Young@Heart to its 2008-2009 distribution lineup.

Senator acquired the German, US and Spanish rights to genre specialist Vincenzo Natali's Splice which will star Adrien Brody and Sarah Polley and be produced by Steve Hoban of Copperheat Entertainment and Gaumont. Marco Weber of the group's Stateside operation Senator Entertainment Inc. will executive produce the film together with Spanish director-producer Guillermo del Toro for theatrical release during 2009.

Meanwhile, an early summer 2008 release is planned in Germany for Stephen Walker's documentary Young@Heart which has already won numerous prizes including the Audience Award at the Los Angeles Film Festival 2007 and the Golden Rose for Best Documentary at the Rose d'Or Film Festival in Lucerne last year.

And the latest David Zucker comedy Superhero Movie, starring Leslie Nielsen, Tracy Morgan, Pamela Anderson and Regina Hall, will be opened by Senator Film Verleih on July 17.
