Windfall is the first in PiVotal's planned series of films based on Vincenzi's works. The story is about a woman who trains as a doctor in the 1920s but then gets an inheritance that gives her freedom and puts her marriage in danger.

Composer manager/agent Carolynne Wyper, former BAFTA chairman/producer Richard Price and producer Liz Trubridge are heading the new company, which launches with a deal in place for film and TV rights to Vincenzi's select titles already published. PiVotal said it hopes to produce a Vincenzi-based film every year or two.

Vincenzi is a UK journalist and novelist who has sold more than seven million copies of her novels, including Wicked Pleasures, An Outrageous Affair and Sheer Abandon.

Wyper said: 'I've been a huge fan of Penny's work for years and longed to see her stories transferred to the big screen. PiVotal Pictures was born out of my love for Penny's great stories, and Liz and Richard's industry knowledge and expertise in unlocking blockbuster potential. Sharman is now on board and has adapted Windfall so beautifully, giving an extra dimension to the characters; we're thrilled to have her working with us. '
