Myriad Pictures will bringJohn Sayles' political satire Silver City to Cannes after acquiring international rights to the all-star ensemblecomedy from production company Anarchists' Convention.

Newmarket Films acquired USrights in spring and plans a September 17 release ahead of the Presidentialelection in November.

Written and directed bySayles, Silver City takes placeduring an imagined Colorado gubernatorial race in which a semi-literateright-wing candidate's campaign is derailed by a corpse.

Maria Bello, Thora Birch,Chris Cooper, Richard Dreyfuss, Daryl Hannah, Danny Huston, Kris Kristofferson,Mary Kay Place and Tim Roth are among the cast.

"We plan to introduce the filmto the international community during the upcoming Cannes Film Market," Myriadpresident Kirk D'Amico said in a statement.

"It is a perfect film thatcleverly pokes fun at the politicians of our times. We are looking forward toworking with John and Maggie [Renzi, producer and Anarchists Convention co-headwith Sayles] and coordinating with Newmarket to expose this delightful filmaround the world."

D'Amico and Deanna Sanchez,Myriad's director of legal and business affairs, negotiated the deal withattorney Sue Bodine of Epstein, Levinsohn, Bodine, Hurwitz and Weinstein forAnarchists' Convention.
