The sixth annual East End Film Festival is being held in a variety of venues across East London, and features the world premiere of Julian Cole's With Gilbert And George.

Tower Hamlets Council, Hackney Council and Lee Valley Regional Park Authority have partnered together with the support of 3 Mills Studios, Film London, LDA, Film London East, The ERDF and the Canary Wharf Group to present the festival, which also includes the UK premiere of John Pilger's documentary War On Democracy; a sneak preview of Joe Strummer: The Future Is Unwritten and a conversation with director Julien Temple; and producer Andrew Macdonald in conversation (28 Weeks Later, 28 Days Later, Trainspotting).

Sidebars include: 'Lights, Couture, Action!', which showcases East End Fashion on film; 'Offcuts: The Winners!', with music promos and live bands; and 'Cutting East', an open deck night.

More than 50 short films will also be screened, shot by East End filmmakers both at home and abroad.

Patrons of the festival include Danny Boyle, Steven Berkoff, Nitin Sawhney, Pawel Pawlikowski, Tony Grisoni, Parminder Vir, Jeremy Wooding, Simon Channing-Williams, Stephen Woolley and Jason Solomons.
