New York-based production outfit Snapper Films has acquired the film rights to Terrence McNally's award-winning play A Perfect Ganesh.

Headed by director-turned producer Juha Wuolijoki, Snapper hopes to get the film into production in the early autumn, 2001, and is currently putting together the financing.

Snapper last year produced Tony Bui's Harvey Keitel-starring Three Seasons through a partnership with Open City Films and Down To You, a teen romance starring Freddie Prinze Jr and Julia Stiles, also with Open City. Three Seasons, which picked up three awards at Sundance last year, was distributed by October Films, and Down To You by Miramax Films.

McNally's previous credits include two other plays which were turned into features; Frankie And Johnny In The Clair De Lune, which became Frankie And Johnny starring Al Pacino and Michelle Pfeiffer, and Love! Valour! Compassion!, which was made into a film with the same title starring Jason Alexander.
