Snapper Music has acquired the UK theatrical, DVD, VHS and broadcast rights to the film series, The Blues.

The Blues, executive produced by Martin Scorsese, is a seven-film series of personal and impressionistic films viewed through the lens of directors who share a passion for the music.

In addition to Scorsese's film, the other directors comprise Charles Burnett, Clint Eastwood, Mike Figgis, Marc Levin, Richard Pearce and Wim Wenders.

Snapper will be releasing all seven films theatrically followed up by a video and DVD collector's set.

Snapper will be working alongside Sony Music who, on 3 November, will release a 5-CD deluxe boxed set, Martin Scorsese Presents the Blues, along with the single CD Best Of. In addition, Sony and Universal will later release The Blues, 21 additional single CD compilations featuring 12 individual artists collections, including Eric Clapton, BB King, Muddy Waters, Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Also available will be the soundtrack CDs from each of the seven films.
