Shooting started in Glasgow today (Oct 30) on Solid Air, director May Miles Thomas' follow up to the Bafta-winning DV feature One Life Stand.

A complex drama set in the twin worlds of litigation and high-stakes gambling, Solid Air tells the story of a compulsive gambler who comes home to his estranged father. Discovering his father's lapsed compensation claim for asbestosis, he pursues the case following a disastrous loss at the poker table.

The film is written and directed by May Miles Thomas, who will also edit. Her Elemental Films partner Owen Thomas produces. Momentum Pictures has UK rights, with other backing from Scottish Screen and the Glasgow Film Fund.

The film stars Maurice Roeves, Brian McCardie, Kathy Kiera Clarke, Gary Lewis, James Cosmo and Laura Harvey.

Solid Air is shooting for six weeks entirely on location in Glasgow, using SONY/Cinealta HD24P.
