Sony Pictures Classics (SPC) has picked up North American and Latin American rights from Submarine Entertainment to Jeffrey Levy-Hinte's documentary Soul Power following its world premiere at Toronto.

Soul Power chronicles the 12-hour Zaire '74 R&B concert in Kinshasa, Zaire, in 1974 that played concurrently with the infamous Rumble In The Jungle boxing match between Muhammad Ali and George Foreman.

Performers include James Brown, BB King, Bill Withers and Celia Cruz. Levy-Hinte produced with David Sonenberg and Leon Gast. Celluloid Dreams previously acquired international rights.

'We are thrilled to be back in business with Jeff Levy-Hinte on his wonderful directorial debut,' SPC said in a statement. 'Soul Power had us excited from the moment we saw it and is a film that will appeal to audiences of all ages.'
