Pre-production has begun on TheFlyer, which has now been set as the third film to emerge from SouthAfrica's DV8 low-cost film-making initiative.

To be directed by Revel Foxin July, The Flyer is the story of a coloured boy who tries to escapethe dangers of street life through a career in acrobatics. It will starnewcomer Ian van der Heyden alongside Marcel van Der Heyden as the old man whotutors him in his trapeze career and mentors him through life.

Michelle Wheatley isproducing the film for Reflex Films and Dv8 Films, which headed by JeremyNathan and Joel Phiri.

The film is shooting forfive weeks in and around Cape Town, and will be completed in September

DV8 recently completed itsfirst picture, race drama Forgiveness, which was picked up for internationalsales by Fortissimo, and is in the final stages of completing Max King OfTears, a comedy drama about a professional mourner.
