Kevin Spacey's Bobby Darin biopic Beyond The Sea is among the projects which have received a total Euro 3.3m production support from Filmboard Berlin-Brandenburg in its latest round of funding.

The $22m drama, which has also received backing from the German Federal Film Board (FFA) and is being co-produced by Jan Fantl's Quality International, will begin principal photography at the Babelsberg Studios and in Potsdam on November 10.

Greta Scaachi, Vanessa Redgrave and Brenda Blethyn have joined the international cast which includes producer-director-screenwriter-lead actor Spacey, Kate Bosworth, John Goodman and Bob Hoskins.

The Filmboard also supported the three digital shorts being produced as part of the Berlin Today Award - Myrna Maakaron's Berlin-Beirut, Grace Lee's Best Of Currywurst, and Stephanie Chuat and Veronique Reymond's A Place To Stay -, as well as teamWorx's TV event movie Stauffenberg and G.G. Film's children's film Kalif Storch.
