Barcelona based film and literary agency Pontas will help co-ordinate a new two day film programme at this year’s Frankfurt Book Fair aimed at attracting film producers to see the latest books on offer.

Pontas and representatives from the book fair will attend this year’s Berlinale to meet with hundreds of producers from all over the world to draw their attention to the new programme.

The event will take place on the first two days of this year’s book fair (Oct 12-16) within the framework of the Frankfurt StoryDrive, which brings together representatives from the entire media and entertainment world.

The Frankfurt Book Fair is the world’s largest trade event for books, based on the number of publishing companies represented. Pontas see it as the perfect platform for film producers to meet with literary agents.

“We want to encourage producers from all over the world to meet with film rights holders of adaptable books,” Anna Soler-Pont [pictured], director of Pontas, told ScreenDaily. “The number of films and TV series produced internationally adapting books is over 25% and this percentage continues to grow. No other event can connect producers to the publishing industry and the content for films as the Frankfurt Book Fair.”
