Spanish production company Tesela is preparing three new feature films including the next project from Argentinean veteran Adolfo Aristarain (Common Places).

The films are the first new projects following Achero Manas' Noviembre (now in post-production with an eye to a Cannes release) since Grupo Prisa-backed Plural Entertainment bought out 80% of Tesela last June.

'We are continuing in exactly the same line, with three films per year from mostly new directors with whom we hope to continue working over the years,' says Tesela chief Jose Antonio Felez, in Berlin with Forum title The Suit (El Traje).

First up is Astronautos, a bittersweet love story set in Seville from writer-director Santi Amodeo (The Pilgrim Factor). Seville-based LZ Producciones is co-producing the film, which starts shooting in April.

In May, Euros 3m psycho-thriller The Promise (La Promesa) from up-and-comer Hector Carre will get underway in Galicia with Carmen Maura (800 Bullets) and Ana Fernandez (Solas) starring. Portico Producciones is co-producing.

Aristarain's Alma De Bohemio will star Juan Diego Botto (The Dancer Upstairs) as a man living in Spain whose trip home to Buenos Aires for his mother's funeral evokes flashbacks to his youth - and Argentina's turbulent past. The Euros 3.2m film, co-scripted by Aristarain and Kathy Saavedra, will start shooting in June.
