Warsaw-based distributor SPI International has announced several acquisitions on the back of Cannes.

The company has taken theEastern European rights to the $100m (Euros 80m) Asterix At The Olympic Games (from Pathe), whichwill star Gerard Depardieu, Alain Delon, Jean ClaudeVan Damme, David Beckham, Michael Shumacher,Zinedine Zidane and GiselleBundchen.

The distributor also strucka deal with Initial Entertainment for Polish and Hungarian rights to Next, starring Julianne Moore andNicolas Cage.

SPI got Eastern European rights from QED to Richard Shephard's SpringBreak In Bosnia, starring Richard Gere and Terrence Howard.

In addition, the distributorstruck a multi-picture deal with Summit Entertainment for The Tourist, PS I Love You and TheHottie And The Nottie,for Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

Other deals were struck forEastern European rights for Rob-B-Hoodfrom Emperor Motion Pictures; for DirtySanchez for Hungary from Pathe; and for I Do for Poland from StudioCanal.
