Paramount Pictures will release The Spiderwick Chronicles simultaneously in IMAX and conventional cinemas, the companies announced today. The fantasy adventure will be released in the US and Canada on February 15, 2008.

The agreement is the fourth between Paramount and IMAX in the past five months. Paramount releases an IMAX version of Robert Zemeckis' Beowulf on November 16.

'The grand scale and immersive nature of the IMAX experience gives Spiderwick a brand new level of excitement,' said Canton in a statement. 'In IMAX theatres, fans will be drawn into the movie even further and feel as if they are actually part of the story.'

Directed by Mark Waters and produced by Mark Canton, The Spiderwick Chronicles is written by Karey Kirkpatrick and David Berenbaum and John Sayles based on the books by Tony DiTerlizzi and Holly Black.

The film stars Freddie Highmore, Mary-Louise Parker, Andrew McCarthy, David Strathairn, Nick Nolte and the voice talent of Seth Rogen.
