Projects initiated at the ninth Strategic Partners co-production market could generate $168m (C$181m) in activity, according to a new economic impact study from the Atlantic Film Festival.

The three-day event, held in Halifax, Nova Scotia, last year, could pump $59m (C$63.2m) into the Atlantic Canadian economy over the next four years as a result of this year's pitches, the study said.

Looking ahead, the 10th Strategic Partners will run Sept 14-16 with a focus on anchor countries the US and UK and focus country France.

Strategic Partners attracted 186 producers and financiers to last year's event for more than 1,000 pre-scheduled meetings.

The Atlantic Film Festival runs Sept 13-22.

Gregor Ash, executive Director of Strategic Partners, said: 'Jan Miller and the Strategic Partners team have created one of the industry's best run and most effective markets and these numbers speak for themselves.'
